Off to Costa Rica

We leave for our Costa Rica DTS tomorrow morning (Friday Sept 24th).

The last couple weeks have been great. Duong and I met four times to hang out and study the bible. She was so eager to read the bible and through the Holy Spirit she began to get an understanding of it. She is now back in Vietnam and is reading the gospel of John to get to know Jesus better to be able to make a decision to follow Him in her life. We have developed a strong friendship and plan to keep in touch. Continue to pray for our friendship and for God to call her to Himself.

Dan and I said our good-byes to all our family and friends in PA and we were prayed over again, for the last time of many this summer. We arrived in Chicago on Monday and spoke at St. Paul Lutheran chapel service on Wednesday for the pre-K to 8th grade students. We spoke on the body of Christ and how it is made up of many parts but one body and how each person has their own gift and part in the body. It was a wonderful experience and gift to see all the students at my old elementary school. We were able to have lunch with a few leaders of the church afterward, which was great fellowship.

We are ready and as we look back over the last couple months, we have a deeper understanding of God’s plan. He taught us about dependence on Him for everything. Our own expectations and plans have been broken down and we only yearn for His plan and His will. We desire to grow in a deeper knowledge and love of Him, and Him alone. We are ready to be used for His glory in whatever way He wills.

A few weeks ago, we received an email from our DTS leader and we learned that the other people that are going to school with us represent a variety of nations and our team is multi-generational. Through prayer, the leaders have shared we will be going to Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) on our outreach part of the school. We are excited about meeting our team and what God has for us during these first 5 months of learning about Him and His people.

Our God is all-knowing. He knows when we sit and when we rise, he perceives our thoughts from afar. He is familiar with all our ways (Psalms 139). He knew what we needed during our preparation stage to make us fully ready to go. We are ready, we are going!
