Back from Israel, Graduation and More!

The last month in Israel was a life-changing experience for each of us that were able to go!  We are different people with a deeper understanding of God's heart for Israel, the people of Israel and how God is moving there today! If we could label the outreach with a phrase it would be DIVINE APPOINTMENTS!

We had daily divine appointments from our Heavenly Father, such as lunch on the Mt. of Olives in a Muslim man's home who had three Deaf-Blind sisters, an Arabic style lunch in the West Bank in a Deaf family's home, and experiencing a real Shabbat dinner at a Jewish Rabbi home in Jerusalem.  We meet a Deaf person every 3 to 4 days, got a tour of Jerusalem by the only Deaf pastor in Israel and touched over 200 Deaf students lives by doing programs at 4 different schools.  Had the opportunity to do home visits in Bethlehem, Hebron, Nazareth, Jordan Valley on a Kibbutz (community living farm in Israel) and Jerusalem, where we were able to listen to live stories and share our testimonies and the gospel of Jesus Christ with many people.  Visited places in the bible which made the bible come alive like Capernaum, the Temple Mount, Western Wall, Garden of Gethsemane, possible sites of the crucifixion and burial and resurrection of Jesus.  Worshiped and prayed with Houses of Prayers in Jerusalem, play Dreidel during Hanukkah on a city on the Sea of Galilee and so much more! Below are just a few pictures, we took over 1000! For the next couple weeks, I plan to write blogs sharing more specific testimonies with pictures of some of the amazing people God touched through our team in Israel!

Nazareth Village-a village modeled after how Jesus grew up. The carpenter was explaining how he made a yoke and our team encouraged Dan and I as a married couple, who are equally yoked to put it on!

Behind us is the Western Wall and Temple Mount

We arrived home on Dec 10th after waking up at 4:00 am, riding taxi to the Tel-Aviv Airport and then a 5 hour plane ride to Paris with an hour layover and then a 8:45 hour plane ride to Washington DC Dulles International Airport.  Through customs and then an our drive home back to Embassy Church, which met us with Christmas tree farm in the front lawn and snow on the ground. It was around 6:00 pm East Coast time which was 2:00 am in Israel. We closed the week with debriefing the Israel part of our outreach, the complete DTS, talking about how to re-enter the world outside of YWAM and just caught up on sleep!

We were all in row 42 on our flight from Paris to Washington DC!

On Thursday night, we officially graduated 6 amazing world changers, pioneers, radical disciples of Jesus! Arron Zepeda, leader of the David's Tent DTS and Dan led the night filled with testimonies, fellowship, laughter, and prayers.  Dan signed the whole night, which he said was a testimony in itself and I interpreted! We had a "taste of Israel" table for supporters to taste dates, sweet nuts and wafflers from Israel and a rainbow of pictures maps and things our students brought there!  commissioned them out There was a word from our base leader, Jason Hershey, "God will never leave you for forsake you." as we commissioned the 12 disciples out (6 from the ASL DTS and 6 from David's Tent DTS).  Below are some pictures from the night!

Outreach State Side Part 3: David's Tent and More

God gave us the amazing opportunity to do many different kinds of outreaches to bless and share of Jesus's love to others! We participated in David's Tent, www.davidstentdc.org, homeless ministry giving out free bread and coffee at Dupont Circle, participate in a bible study at a nursing home, bless the food truck workers in DC, speak and pray for people at churches and so much more! Here are some pictures of some of the other activities we did!

Kari praying for a woman as she was getting baptized that day!

Renca praying for Jesus to heal and smooth the pain of a woman's back!

Liza worshipping at David's Tent!

Pastor Chris Hughes and his wife, Jennifer and their church invited us to share pictures and testimonies at Deaf Calvary Church, in Fredrick MD! The pictures above are from his church and they blessed us with lunch afterwards! They were amazing to fellowship with!

Free Coffee and Bread at Dupont Circle! One night, we met a guy named Anthony!  He had just moved to DC and did not have friends or family support and we were able to talk to him after he watched a drama we did! After about 45 mins of sharing with him, we learned it was his birthday! We all signed and sang happy birthday, Brandon ran to CVS to buy him a present, Renca gave him a book she had and he was so blessed to have people to celebrate his birthday with!

Finally, this past Sunday, our church, National Community Church, Deaf group, prayed for us and our trip to Israel!  We were blessed to have their prayers and thank you for your prayers as we will be in Israel for the next 32 days!  We leave Nov 8th and arrive home Dec 10th!

Outreach State Side Part 2: VFCC and NTID

God is moving among the universities! He is touching young people's hearts and drawing more and more people to himself!  And He asked our group to join him in touching hearts at Valley Forge Christian College (VFCC)  and National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID).  So we took a week and a half long road trip and visited both of these campuses and saw him move in mighty ways!

First, we were warmly welcomed by VFCC!  We spend Open House weekend with the 6 Deaf students who are involved with the Deaf Program at VFCC!  We had an amazing weekend of get to know you games, prayer walks, fellowship and great encouraging conversations spurring one another on in our faith!  We were overwhelmed by the hopsitality provided and were blessed by the love we received!

To end the weekend, we were able to attend a Deaf church in town, called Deaf Connect Chruch.  Pastor Todd Miller, gave us the whole service to share!  Our students shared about the Father Heart of God, by doing a drama, short teaching, storytelling, worship and testimonies about the Father's Heart for us!

After church, we drove to NTID, which is a college for the Deaf on Rochester Institute of Technology campus in Rochester New York. It was a 6 hour drive and we arrived at Victory Baptist Church, who welcomed us to stay for the week!  Our week at NTID is hard to describe with words! The students were so eager to know God more and experience Him in new ways! Similar to Gallaudet University, we did evangelistic outreaches during the afternoons.  At night we did 2 hour workshops including worship, short teaching, practical application of teaching and small groups! It was an amazing week!

Monday: Hearing God's Voice

Tuesday: Worship

Renca taught how English only has one word for worship but Hebrew has over 50! We picked a bunch of Hebrew words for worship and worshipped Jesus!

One of them was Kara, which means to bend the knee, to sink, bow down self and bring down low and is used in Psalm 95:6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our maker!

Another one was Guwl, which means to spin around, under the influence of any violent emotion and is used in Psalm 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it!

Wednesday: Gospel and Testimonies

Thursday: Culture of Revival!

Each of the students picked a culture piece of revival, such as the culture of thanksgiving, speaking life, faith, just Jesus, courageous leadership, joyful repentance and forgiveness and taught on it!

After the YWAM student taught, each of the NTID students testified which culture piece was one they were going to step into from that day forth! It was a powerful night of hearts being touched and changed by Jesus! It was an honor that He choose to use us!

Exhuasted from the amazing week, the students slept most of the way home to DC!
